What Mythadis Does

Mythadis investigates interesting, questionable and occasionally spectacular claims using research, experimentation, evidence and commentary.

Our content is produced for educational, informational and entertainment purposes.

We may examine, test, critique, parody or comment upon products, services, advertising claims, scientific claims, public statements, companies, organizations and individuals involved in matters we believe are worth investigating.

We make a reasonable effort to distinguish factual findings from opinion, commentary and humour.

BS Meter

The Mythadis BS Meter is an editorial rating system.

It is not a scientific measurement, legal determination, regulatory finding or allegation of criminal conduct.

A BS Meter score represents Mythadis' assessment of how well a particular claim appears to be supported by the evidence available to us at the time of publication, including published research, known mechanisms, technical documentation, independent sources and, where applicable, our own testing.

A high BS Meter score is criticism of the claim being examined unless we expressly state otherwise.

It does not, by itself, mean that Mythadis is alleging fraud, dishonesty, criminal activity or intentional deception by any individual or organization.

Experiments & Demonstrations

Experiments and demonstrations shown by Mythadis are conducted for investigative, educational and entertainment purposes.

Testing conditions, equipment, methodology and limitations will be described where reasonably practical so viewers can evaluate the results for themselves.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Mythadis testing is independent testing and is not accredited laboratory testing, peer-reviewed scientific research, a clinical trial, certification testing or a regulatory determination.

Results may be specific to the product, sample, configuration, environment, methodology or circumstances tested and may not apply universally.

Failure to reproduce a claimed result does not necessarily establish that the result is impossible under every possible condition.

Do not recreate experiments involving electrical, chemical, mechanical, medical, fire, environmental or other hazards without appropriate knowledge, equipment and safety precautions.

Facts, Opinion & Commentary

Mythadis attempts to identify factual claims separately from our opinions and conclusions.

Measurements, quotations, source documents and observed results are presented as factual material where appropriate.

Commentary, humour, conclusions, verdicts and BS Meter ratings are editorial opinions based upon the evidence available to Mythadis at the time of publication.

Opinions may change when meaningful new evidence becomes available.

Corrections

Mythadis wants the record to be correct.

If you believe we have made a material factual error, contact us and identify:

1. the specific statement you believe is incorrect;
2. the case, video, article or other content in which it appears;
3. what you believe the correct information to be; and
4. any evidence or primary sources supporting the correction.

We will review substantive correction requests in good faith.

Where credible new information demonstrates that a material factual statement is incorrect, Mythadis may correct, clarify or update the relevant content.

A correction does not necessarily mean that the underlying analysis, opinion or conclusion was incorrect.

Right of Reply

Companies, organizations and individuals who are the subject of significant Mythadis investigations may submit factual responses, supporting documentation or relevant evidence for consideration.

Mythadis retains editorial control over whether and how responses, corrections and updates are incorporated into our content.
